Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2006-147

  Ottawa, 20 April 2006
World Television Network/Le réseau Télémonde Inc.
Across Canada
  Application 2006-0307-8

Deadline to commence operations

1.

The Commission approves the application by World Television Network/Le réseau Télémonde Inc. for an extension of the time limit to commence the operation of the Category 2 specialty programming undertaking authorized in WTM is to be licensed as a new, national, Category 2 specialty television service for digital distribution; the applicant's request for guaranteed access to analog distribution on cable is denied, Decision CRTC 2001-757, 14 December 2001 (Decision 2001-757). However, the Commission considers it appropriate to grant an extension of twelve months rather than the fifteen months requested by the applicant.

2.

This is the applicant's second request for an extension of the time limit to commence the operation of this undertaking.

3.

The Commission extends, to 14 June 2007, the deadline by which the operation of this specialty service must commence. This is the final extension to be granted by the Commission with respect to the implementation of this service.

4.

The licence for this undertaking will be issued once the applicant has informed the Commission in writing that it is prepared to commence operations. The authority granted in Decision 2001-757 will become null and void should the licensee fail to meet the new implementation deadline set out above.
