1.

Oshawa, Ontario
Application No. 2006-1109-7
Application by Durham Radio Inc. relating to the licence of radio programming undertaking CKDO Oshawa, Ontario.
The licensee proposes to change the authorized contours of its transmitter CKDO-FM-1 Oshawa by increasing the effective radiated power from 250 watts to an average effective radiated power of 665 watts (maximum effective radiated power 2,000 watts/antenna height 86 metres).
The licensee indicates that the proposed changes would improve the reception of
CKDO-FM-1 Oshawa, optimize the use of frequency 107.7 MHz (channel 299A) by counteracting co-channel interference from U.S. station WLKK-FM Weathersfield, New York and continue the turnaround of CKDO from both a listener acceptance and financial point of view.
The Commission notes that there would be an important change to the presently authorized contours of CKDO-FM-1 Oshawa.

2.

Fort Erie and St. Catharines, Ontario
Application No. 2006-1100-8
Application by CJRN 710 Inc. relating to the licence of radio programming undertaking CKEY-FM Fort Erie, Ontario.
The licensee proposes to change the authorized contoursby decreasing the average effective radiated power from 19,700 watts to 13,000 watts, by increasing the antenna height and by relocating the transmitter (maximum effective radiated power 50,000 watts/antenna height 142.4 metres).
Subject to the approval of the above-noted technical changes, the licensee proposes to amend the licence of CKEY-FM Fort Erie by deleting the synchronous transmitter CKEY-FM-1 St. Catharines, Ontario.
The licensee stated that the proposed technical changes will improve coverage of the areas currently served by CKEY-FM Fort Erie and its synchronous transmitter CKEY-FM-1 St. Catharines and therefore would remove the need for the synchronous repeater.
The licensee advised that the co-location of the transmitter site of CKEY-FM Fort Erie with the transmitter of its station CFLZ-FM Niagara Falls and removing the need for the synchronous transmitter CKEY-FM-1 St. Catharines would result in cost savings.
The Commission notes that currently Fort Erie is included in the authorized 3mV/m contour of CKEY-FM Fort Erie and St. Catharines is included in the authorized 3mV/m contour of CKEY-FM-1 St. Catharines. The applicant proposes to use a single transmitter to serve both Fort Erie and St. Catharines where St. Catharines would fall within the 3mV/m contour and Fort Erie would fall within the 0.5 mV/m contour of the proposed transmitter.
The licensee has confirmed its continued commitment to its Fort Erie local programming orientation.
The Commission notes that the authorized contours of the station will have an important change resulting from theproposed changes to the technical parameters.
