CBF-FM Montréal – Technical amendment

1.

The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) relating to the radio programming undertaking CBF-FM Montréal to increase the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 242.7 to 298.9 meters. All other technical parameters remain unchanged. The implementation is subject to the notification by the Department of Industry (the Department) discussed in paragraph 4 below.

2.

Astral Broadcasting Group Inc. filed an intervention to this application. After concluding an agreement with the CBC, the intervener withdrew its intervention.

3.

The CBC indicated that the changes are aimed at improving La Première Chaîne's service in the greater Montréal area.

Condition prior to the implementation of the new technical parameters

4.

The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued. Therefore, in the absence of the notification by the Department, the licensee will not be able to implement the new technical parameters approved in this decision.
