Application 2011-0732-6, received 26 April 2011

CFQC-DT Saskatoon – Technical change

1.      The Commission approves the application by Bell Media Inc. relating to the English-language conventional television programming undertaking CFQC-TV Saskatoon to amend the technical parameters of its transmitter CFQC-DT Saskatoon by increasing the maximum effective radiated power (ERP) from 10,000 to 13,000 watts, by increasing the average ERP from 5,600 to 13,000 watts, by decreasing the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 268.8 to 267.9 metres and by changing the antenna radiation pattern from directional to non-directional. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

2.      The licensee stated that this amendment would allow it to increase its coverage in the outlying regions to the south to south-west of Saskatoon. The licensee further stated that CFQC-DT would operate at the existing broadcast site of CFQC-TV by using a different antenna.

3.      The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
