Subject : Request by the Canadian Media Production Association to obtain information designated confidential by Astral Media Inc.

Ms Dorval,

This letter concerns the request by the Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) on 13 December 2011 to obtain information designated as confidential by Astral Media Inc. in its filing of 8 December 2011, at the public hearing regarding the development of a regulatory framework for the French-language television market, licence renewals for Astral Media Inc., Quebecor Media Inc. and Serdy Media Inc., and review of certain conditions of licence for V Interactions Inc. (Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2011-525).

According to section 33 of the CRTC Rules of Practice and Procedure and to Broadcasting and Telecom Information Bulletin CRTC 2010-961, the author of the confidentiality designation may file a reply with the Commission within 10 days and must serve the reply, if necessary, on the party requesting the confidential information. However, because this reply period would end after the 22 December 2011 deadline for interveners to file final comments, the Commission requests that Astral file its reply by Friday, 16 December 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at the latest.

Please note that a copy of this letter will be placed on the public file for this proceeding.

Peter Foster,
Director General, Television Policy and Applications

cc. CMPA
