Dear Mr. Harvey:
Re: Procedural request to shorten the intervention period from 30 to 20 days and the reply period from 10 to 5 days for application 2012-0626-9
On 23 May 2012, Télévision MBS inc. (the applicant) filed an application with the Commission to suspend the conditions of licence concerning the broadcast of local programming on CFTF-TV Rivière-du-Loup from 27 July to 12 August 2012, due to the broadcast of the London Olympic Games during that period.
On 25 May 2012, the Commission received a procedural request from the applicant to shorten the intervention period from 30 to 20 days and the reply period from 10 to 5 days, to ensure that the Commission has time to publish a decision before the start of the Olympic Games, which will take place from 27 July to 12 August 2012.
Commission staff is of the view that the applicant’s request to shorten the intervention and reply periods for this process should be granted. According to staff, it is justified under the circumstances in light of the pending Olympic Games, combined with the reasonable time frame given to interveners and respondents to submit interventions and responses during the current process. Therefore, the abridged timelines for this process will now be as follows:
