Dear Ms. Kirshenblatt:

With respect to the above noted application in which CBC requests the addition of a rebroadcasting transmitter, Commission staff notes that you have requested to add a rebroadcasting transmitter that would operate in accordance with the conditions of licence that are applicable to the Radio One network as set out in Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2000-1 and Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2001-532.

Commission staff notes that a request for a rebroadcasting transmitter must specify an underlying radio programming undertaking it wishes to rebroadcast, and not a network broadcasting licence.

Moreover, at question 4.1 of the application form, you have specified that the additional rebroadcasting transmitter would rebroadcast the programming of CFFB-3-FM, which itself is a rebroadcasting transmitter of CFFB Iqaluit. Please note, a rebroadcasting transmitter cannot be requested to rebroadcast programming of another rebroadcasting transmitter. Rebroadcasting transmitters should be associated with radio programming undertakings.

The Commission will not proceed with the above noted applications. As such, these applications are now considered closed.

Should you need further information concerning your application, please do not hesitate to contact Sherwin Pagtakhan by telephone at (819) 953-5130 or by fax at 819-994-0218.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Craig
