Application 2013-1359-3

CKVH-FM High Prairie – Technical changes

1. The Commission approves an application by Newcap Inc. (Newcap) to change the authorized contours of the English-language commercial radio programming undertaking CKVH-FM High Prairie, Alberta, to increase the effective radiated power from 25,000 to 29,000 watts (non-directional antenna with an increase in the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 58.2 to 128.6 metres) and to relocate the antenna site. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.

2. Newcap indicated that it currently rents space on a tower owned by TELUS Communications Company (TELUS), but that the lease renewal is now in question since it is subject to TELUS successfully renewing its head lease. Newcap therefore wishes to relocate its antenna on a tower owned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) that became available after the CBC ceased transmitting TV signals from that site.

3. The Commission reminds the licensee that pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
