Dear Ms. Kirshenblatt:

Subject: CBC – APP 2014-0038-2

On 17 January 2014, the Commission received an application from CBC/Radio-Canada, on behalf of its 14 English conventional television stations, for flexibility in how the described video condition of licence is measured for the four week period during which CBC/Radio-Canada will be broadcasting the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

In this application, CBC/Radio-Canada requested that the Commission process on an expedited basis as the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games commence February 7, 2014 and apologized for the urgency of the application.

Commission staff considers that it would be appropriate to consider CBC/Radio-Canada’s application on an expedited basis in the circumstances. Accordingly, the applicant request is approved and the timetable for the process will be as follows:

- Interested persons may file an intervention with the Commission on or before 30 January 2014;

- The applicant may file a reply with the Commission on or before
4 February 2014.

A copy of this letter and all related correspondence will be added to the public record of the proceeding.

Sincerely,

Original signed by

Nanao Kachi
Director
