Exempted terrestrial broadcasting distribution undertaking serving fewer than 20,000 subscribers – Revocation of licence
- The Commission received an application by Shaw Communications Inc., on behalf of Shaw Cablesystems Limited, which has confirmed its eligibility for exemption in accordance with the terms and conditions of the exemption order for terrestrial broadcasting distribution undertakings serving fewer than 20,000 subscribers (Broadcasting Order 2014-445), set out in Appendix 2 to Amendments to various regulations, the standard conditions of licence for video-on-demand undertakings and certain exemption orders – Provisions requiring the mandatory distribution of emergency alert messages, Broadcasting Regulatory Policy CRTC 2014-444 and Broadcasting Orders CRTC 2014-445, 2014-446, 2014-447 and 2014-448, 29 August 2014.
- Given the licensee’s request and pursuant to sections 9(1)(e) and 24(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission revokes the broadcasting licence issued to Shaw Cablesystems Limited for the undertaking serving Courtenay/Comox/Powell River, British Columbia.
- The Commission reminds the operator of this undertaking that it must, at all times, comply with the criteria contained in Broadcasting Order 2014-445.
