CBO-FM Ottawa and its transmitter CBOC-FM Cornwall; CBOF-FM Ottawa and its transmitter CBOF-FM-6 Cornwall – Technical changes

  1. The Commission approves the applicationFootnote 1 by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to change the authorized contours of CBOC-FM Cornwall, Ontario, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the English-language radio programming undertaking CBO-FM Ottawa, by decreasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain (EHAAT) from 86.5 to 80.1 metres and by amending the existing coordinates of the transmitter site. All other technical parameters would remain unchanged.
  2. The Commission also approves the applicationFootnote 2 by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to change the authorized contours of CBOF-FM-6 Cornwall, Ontario, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the French-language radio programming undertaking CBOF-FM Ottawa, by increasing the EHAAT from 77.5 to 80.1 meters and by amending the existing coordinates of the transmitter site. All other technical parameters would remain unchanged.
  3. The licensee stated that the requested technical changes would enable its Radio One and ICI Première services to be combined on a single antenna while maintaining coverage in the Cornwall region.
  4. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding these applications.
  5. The Commission considers that the implementation of the technical changes will have a negligible impact on the population currently served by the stations.
  6. Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that broadcasting certificates will be issued.
  7. The licensee must implement the technical changes by no later than 19 March 2022. To request an extension, the licensee must submit a written request to the Commission at least 60 days before that date, using the form available on the Commission’s website.
