Browser settings for on-line forms

To use the CRTC's on-line forms, you need to have both the cookies and JavaScript options turned on in your browser.

CRTC forms use session cookies only. This means that you have 20 minutes to fill in a page. After 20 minutes, you will lose any information you have entered.

For instructions on changing your settings, select your browser from the list below. If your browser isn't listed, or if you don't want to enable Java and cookies on your browser, you can contact the CRTC.

Enabling cookies

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Internet Options.
  2. Select Internet Options.
  3. Select Security tab.
  4. Select Custom Level.
  5. Scroll down to Cookies and select Enable under Allow per-session cookies (not stored).
  6. Click OK on the Security window.
  7. Click OK on the Internet Options window.

Enabling JavaScript

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Internet Options.
  2. Select Security tab.
  3. Select Custom Level.
  4. Scroll down to Scripting:
         under Active Scripting select Enable
         under Scripting for Java Applets select Enable
  5. Click OK on the Security Settings window.
  6. Click OK on the Internet Options window.

After changing your browser settings, close your browser for the new settings to take effect.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0

Enabling cookies

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Internet Options.
  2. Select Privacy tab.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. Click Override automatic cookie handling in the Cookies box.
  5. Check the box Always allow session cookies.
  6. Click OK twice to exit.

Enabling JavaScript

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Internet Options.
  2. Select Security tab.
  3. Select Custom Level.
  4. Scroll down to Scripting:
          under Active Scripting select Enable
          under Scripting of Java Applets select Enable
  5. Click OK on the Security Settings window.
  6. Click OK on the Internet Options window.

After changing your browser settings, close your browser for the new settings to take effect.

Netscape Communicator/Navigator 7.02

Enabling Java and JavaScript

  1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
  2. Select Advanced tab.
  3. Select Enable Java.
  4. Select Scripts & Plugins. (If you don't see any subcategories, double-click Advanced to expand the list.)
  5. Select Enable JavaScript for Navigator.
  6. Click OK.

Enabling cookies

  1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
  2. Select Privacy & Security.
  3. Click Cookies.
  4. Select Enable all Cookies.
  5. Click OK.

After changing your browser settings, close your browser for the new settings to take effect.

Mozilla Firefox 1.5

Enabling cookies

  1. Select Options from the Tools menu.
  2. Select Privacy (padlock icon)
  3. Select the Cookies tab.
  4. Ensure the setting to Allow sites to set cookies is selected.

Enabling Java and JavaScript

  1. Select Options from the Tools menu.
  2. Select Content (globe icon).
  3. Select Enable Java.
  4. Select Enable JavaScript.

After changing your browser settings, close your browser for the new settings to take effect.

Safari 1.2

Enabling Java and JavaScript

  1. Select Preferences from the Safari menu.
  2. Select Security tab.
  3. Where it says "Web Content" select the following:
          Enable plug-ins
          Enable Java
          Enable JavaScript

Enabling cookies

  1. Select Preferences from the Safari menu.
  2. Select Security tab.
  3. Where it says Accept Cookies select either Always or Only from sites you navigate to.

After changing your browser settings, close your browser for the new settings to take effect.
