The Commission has exempted new media broadcasting undertakings. The Commission has defined new media broadcasting undertakings as those that provide broadcasting services delivered and accessed over the Internet or delivered using point-to-point technology and received by way of mobile devices.
Recent technological, consumer, and economic trends point to significant new opportunities for the Canadian broadcasting system and high-quality professional Canadian content on both the national and global stage as a result of new media broadcasting developments. Enabling more choices for Canadians to access Canadian content is increasingly important as they access programming they want, when they want, from whatever provider they want.
