Decision

Ottawa, 6 September 1984
Decision CRTC 84-741
Native Communications Inc.
Pukatawagan, Manitoba - 832484000
Following a Public Hearing in Regina on 19 June 1984, the Commission approves the application for a broadcasting licence for a Cree and English-language AM radio station to provide a community oriented radio service to Pukatawagan on the frequency 1340 kHz, with a transmitter power of 50 watts.
The Commission will issue a licence expiring 31 March 1989, subject to the conditions of licence specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
However, in accordance with paragraph 22(1)(b) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the Department of Communications that it will issue its Technical Construction and Operating Certificate.
The frequency approved by this decision is an unprotected frequency. Accordingly, the licensee would have to select another frequency for the operation of the station should optimum utilization of the broadcasting spectrum so require.
It is a condition of licence that construction of the station be completed and that it be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision or such further period as the Commission may, upon receipt of a request for extension before the expiry of the said twelve months, deem appropriate under the circumstances.
Fernand Bélisle Secretary General
