Decision

Ottawa, 14 September 1987
Decision CRTC 87-743
La Coopérative de câblo-distribution de Saint-Just-de-Bretenières
Saint-Juste-de-Bretenières, Quebec - 863061800
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1987-175 dated 24 July 1987, the Commission approves, by condition of licence, the application to be relieved of the requirement of section 23 of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986, that Part III licensees wishing to distribute any pay television, specialty or Part III eligible non-Canadian satellite service must distribute "at least four television programming services delivered to its local head-end by a network operator licensed to extend television and radio services to remote and underserved communities, at least one of which must be a Canadian programming service".
In approving this application, the Commission has taken into account the licensee's arguments to the effect that this undertaking, which currently uses 12 channels or less to distribute authorized services (channels 2 to 13), would have to make use of augmented channels to meet this requirement. It added that it is a non-profit society and that such a change would necessitate additional funds being provided by subscribers.

Secretary General
