Decision

Ottawa, 21 July 1994
Decision CRTC 94-432
La Coopérative Radio Chéticamp Limitée
Chéticamp/Saint-Joseph-du-Moine and Belle-Côte/Margaree, Nova Scotia - 940378300
Special event licence
Following a Public Hearing held in the National Capital Region on 12 July 1994, the Commission approves the application for a broadcasting licence for a French-language FM community radio programming undertaking at Chéticamp/Saint-Joseph-du-Moine on the frequency 99.3 MHz (channel 257LP), with an effective radiated power of 31 watts, and a transmitter at Belle-Côte/Margaree on the frequency 98.1 (channel 251LP), with an effective radiated power of 9 watts, to broadcast programs related to the activities of the festival "L'Escaouette en Fête".
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1992-38 dated 29 May 1992 entitled "Policies for Community and Campus Radio", the Commission will issue a licence for a Type A community radio station, the term of which will be 24 to 31 July 1994. This licence will be subject to the conditions specified in the licence to be issued.
In addition, the Commission notes that the applicant will broadcast 55 hours of programming received from the community station CFIM-FM Cap-aux-Meules, Quebec.
The Commission further notes that the applicant will broadcast up to 6 minutes of advertising in every hour of broadcast.
Industry Canada has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from Industry Canada that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.
