Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1994-102 dated 18 August 1994, the Commission approves the application by La Coopérative de Câblodistribution de Saint-Fidèle to be relieved from the requirement to delete the duplicate programming from CFTM-TV (TVA) Montréal, received via satellite from the CANCOM network, or to substitute therefor the local service of CIMT-TV (TVA) Rivière-du-Loup, when the programming is identical. |
|
| Public Notice CRTC 1994-108 provides, with respect to the distribution of Part III eligible satellite services, that "in the case of CFTM-TV and CHAN-TV, a licensee also distributing the signal of a local TVA/CTV affiliate shall delete the duplicate programming from the CANCOM services or substitute the local service(s) when the programming is identical." | |
| In assessing this application, the Commission took into account the licensee's argument that the poor signal quality of CIMT-TV adversely affects the signal quality of CFTM-TV when substitution occurs, as a recent technical assessment by the Department of Industry, Science and Technology has confirmed. | |
| The Commission acknowledges the opposing interventions submitted by Télé Inter-Rives Ltée, licensee of CIMT-TV, and by Télé-Métropole Inc., licensee of CFTM-TV. The Commission is satisfied with the licensee's reply to these interventions. | |
