MTS NETCOM INC. - CONSOLIDATION OF RATE GROUPS FOR BASIC EXCHANGE SERVICES AND COMMUNITY CALLING SERVICE PROGRAM
 Reference: Tariff Notices 181 and 183
 The Commission has received an application under Tariff Notice 181 from MTS NetCom Inc. (MTS), dated 14 December 1995, for approval of tariff revisions providing for the consolidation of rate groups for residence and business basic exchange services. MTS proposes to consolidate its current ten rate groups into three.
 The Commission has also received an application under Tariff Notice 183 from MTS dated 22 December 1995, for approval of tariff revisions providing for a $1.00 monthly increase in the primary exchange service rates for those customers benefiting from MTS's Community Calling Service program. The proposed tariff revisions would result in price increases in order to bring rates closer to costs
 The applications may be examined at any of the company's business offices or at the offices of the CRTC, Room 201, Central Building, Les Terrasses de la Chaudière, 1 Promenade du Portage, Hull, Quebec, or 275 Portage Avenue, Suite 1810, Winnipeg, Manitoba. A copy of the applications may be obtained by any interested person upon request directed to the company at the address shown below.

 In light of the comment period specified in this Public Notice, the Commission expects to issue a ruling with respect to MTS's applications in the second quarter of 1996.
