Order CRTC 2000-228

Ottawa, 24 March 2000
TELUS Communications
(B.C.) Inc.

Tariff Notice 4046

Extension to Residential Winback Service Charge Waiver Promotion
The Commission approves TCBC's proposed extension to the Residential Winback Service Charge Waiver Promotion, with changes, and proposed housekeeping changes.

1.

TCBC filed its application on 23 February 2000 to revise General Tariff Item 32 to extend the end date for the promotion approved in Telecom Order CRTC 99-999 dated 20 October 1999, from 18 April 2000 to 18 October 2000. The company also proposed some housekeeping changes.

2.

The enrolment period for the promotion approved in Order 99-999 (from 20 October 1999 to 18 April 2000) is six months and the proposed extension period (from 18 April to 18 October 2000) is another six months. The Commission notes that the combined enrolment period and discounted monthly rate period under Tariff Notice 4046 would be approximately 13 months. The Commission is of the view that the combined enrolment period and discounted monthly rate period of a promotion should not exceed 12 months.

3.

In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that the proposed tariff revisions are approved with the following change:

"2000 09 18" is to replace "2000 10 18" in paragraph 7 of the proposed Tariff page.

4.

These revisions will take effect on 18 April 2000.
Secretary General
