CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee - Consensus items

  Reference: 8621-C12-01/00

1.

The Business Process Working Group submitted a consensus report entitled Mergers, Acquisitions, and IXC Disconnections (BPRE031c), 11 December 2002, to the CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee (SC). On 3 March 2003, the SC approved the consensus report and referred it to the Commission for consideration. This report is available through the Commission's web site.

2.

The report recommended amendments to the industry rules and regulations and master agreements for interconnection between local exchange carriers (LECs), and between LECs and interexchange carriers (IXCs), to ensure appropriate notification to customers in the event of a merger or acquisition among service providers, or a disconnection of an IXC.

3.

The Commission has reviewed and approves the consensus report.
