Route reference: Part 1 application posted on 15 November 2011

Ottawa, 20 January 2012

Rogers Broadcasting Limited
Toronto, Ontario

Application 2011-1479-3

CJMT-DT Toronto – Technical changes

1.      The Commission approves the application by Rogers Broadcasting Limited to amend the broadcasting licence for the digital English-language television undertaking CJMT-DT Toronto by changing the channel of its transmitter from 51 to 40 and increasing its average effective radiated power from 18,100 to 19,500 watts. All other technical parameters remain unchanged. The Commission received interventions in support of the application.

2.      The licensee stated that since channel 40, previously allocated to TVA Group Inc., had become available after TVA Group Inc. applied for and was granted the revocation of the licence for its SUN TV service, it would like to make use of this channel to improve the quality of the signal offered to viewers within the station’s existing contours.

3.      The Commission reminds the licensee that pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
