CFYK-FM Yellowknife – Technical changes

1. The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the authorized contours of the radio programming undertaking CFYK-FM Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, to change the antenna’s polarization from horizontal to circular and to increase the average effective radiated power from 1,200 watts to 5,500 watts (non-directional antenna with an increase in the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 46.6 metres to 50 metres). The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.

2. The CBC indicated that these changes are necessary to ensure proper coverage and quality of the Radio One service in the community of Yellowknife.

3. The Commission reminds the licensee that pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
