Telecommunications Fees

The Telecommunications Fees Regulations, 2010 (Fees Regulations) provide for the payment of annual telecommunications fees by certain telecommunications service providers, as set out in sections 2 and 3 of the Fees Regulations.
Pursuant to subsection 3(4) of the Fees Regulations, the Commission hereby announces that the estimated total telecommunications regulatory costs of the Commission for the 2024-2025 fiscal year (1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025) are $56.675 million.
The annual adjustment amount (credit) referred to in subsection 3(5) of the Fees Regulations for the 2023-2024 fiscal year is $4.128 million.
Taking into account the annual adjustment above, the net billing for the Commission’s telecommunications fees for the 2024-2025 fiscal year is $52.547 million. This estimated net billing represents an increase of 12% compared to the amount for the 2023-2024 fiscal year ($46.870 million).^{Footnote 1} The 12% increase is mainly attributable to hiring planned in 2024-2025 and the ratification of several collective agreements in 2023-2024, which cause salaries and related costs to rise.
