Subject: Expedited treatment of Part 1 application 2024-0389-8
Bev Kirshenblatt:
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation/Société Radio-Canada (CBC/SRC) filed the above noted application related to the broadcasting licence for the English-language AM radio programming undertaking CFPR-AM Prince Rupert, British Colombia, to modify authorized contours of CFPR-AM's rebroadcasting transmitter CBKA-AM Stewart, BC.
CBC/SRC proposes to replace CBKA-AM’s timeworn transmitter in order to switch to the FM band and improve the quality of the broadcasting signal in Stewart, BC, and its surrounding vicinity.
CBC/SRC has planned to replace this antenna, subject to the Commission’s approval, in Fall 2024 to ensure that the upgrade would be implemented before the weather conditions in the remote location deteriorate in winter and to ensure the risk of signal loss to listeners is minimized.
Given the above, the timetable for the process of the above-noted application will be modified as follows:
- Any interested parties may file an intervention by 16 September 2024.
- CBC/SRC may file a reply to any interventions received by 23 September 2024.
A copy of this letter and all related correspondence will be added to the public record of the proceeding.
Should you need further information concerning your application, please do not hesitate to contact me by telephone at (873) 354-4960 or by email at mahnoor.zia@crtc.gc.ca.
Regards,
Mahnoor Zia (she/her)
