Subject: Consolidated review and vary applications of Telecom Regulatory Policy 2024-180: Procedural Requests
Good day,
We are following up on a 10 December 2024 procedural request made by the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) in relation to the consolidated process established to consider applications to review and vary Telecom Regulatory Policy CRTC 2024-180.
Given the industry’s current workload, PIAC asked the Commission to extend the filing deadlines for interventions and reply comments in this process to 13 February and 27 February respectively. In their replies, Bell, TELUS, Cogeco, and Videotron emphasized the importance of this proceeding to move quickly to bring certainty to the industry. Accordingly, rather than extend filing deadlines, which would impact the close of record, these parties were in favour of extending the filing deadlines for the requests for information (RFI) issued by Commission staff on 10 and 11 December 2024.
We are writing to inform you of the Commission’s decision in this matter.
We recognize that the industry is under a heavy workload at this time. After considering parties’ requests, it is the Commission’s view that extending the filing deadline for RFIs can help alleviate workload concerns. This extension will enable parties to focus first on their interventions and later tailor their RFI responses to only questions not previously addressed in those interventions. Importantly, this extension will also not have any impact on the close of record, thereby ensuring that industry is provided with regulatory certainty as quickly as possible.
Accordingly, the filing deadlines in this process are extended as follows:
- Interventions due by 7 January 2025;
- Responses to requests for information (RFIs) due by 13 January 2025;
- Requests for the public disclosure of information designated confidential by 20 January 2025 (with responses due 23 January 2025); and
- Replies to interventions and responses to RFIs by 13 February 2025.
If you have any questions regarding these matters, please do not hesitate to contact Philippe Kent, Director of Telecommunications Services Policy, at philippe.kent@crtc.gc.ca or at 819-953-4057.
Yours sincerely,

Marc Morin
