Subject: Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2024-137 – Procedural request – Cost applications
In a letter dated 28 February 2025, Deaf Wireless Canada Consultative Committee (DWCC) requested an extension of cost application deadlines in association with Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2024-137, Call for comments – Development of a regulatory policy for closed captioning provided by online streaming undertakings.
CRTC staff would like to remind DWCC that unlike telecommunications proceedings, parties that participate in broadcasting proceedings must submit their cost application to the Broadcasting Participation Fund (BPF) rather than to the CRTC. The BPF provides cost support to public interest groups and consumer groups representing non-commercial user interests and the public interest before the CRTC in broadcasting matters under the Broadcasting Act.
