Subject: Submission of a letter and extension of the intervention and reply periods – Application 2026-0107-0 – Part 1 application by Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. seeking the removal of FAST channels and the revocation of base contribution orders
Alain Strati and Annie Provencher,
Thank you for your emails sent on April 24, 2026 (Canadian Media Producers Association [CMPA]) and April 23, 2026 (Association québécoise de la production médiatique [AQPM]) regarding the application submitted by Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. (Sony) (application 2026-0107-0). This application seeks to remove seven FAST channels registered by the Commission as online audiovisual undertakings.
In your emails, you request that a letter dated October 9, 2025, sent by Commission staff to Sony be made public.
In its Part 1 application dated March 5, 2026, Sony does indeed refer to the above-mentioned staff letter, which was sent in response to correspondence from Sony requesting the removal of its FAST channels.
With Sony’s agreement, the staff letter dated October 9, 2025, is placed on the public record of this proceeding.
Given that new information is being added to the record, staff is extending the deadline for the filing of interventions by all interested parties to May 7, 2026. The deadline for the filing of replies is extended to May 19, 2026.
A copy of this letter, as well as the staff letter dated October 9, 2025, will be placed on the public record of the proceeding.
Sincerely,
Original signed by
Marianne Blais
