Subject: Request for Information: Improving the public alerting system – Request to Extend Deadline

Dear recipients:

On 27 April 2026, the Commission received a request from the Canadian Telecommunications Association (CTA) to extend the deadlines associated with responses to Commission staff’s request for information (RFI). The CTA states that the extension request is due to the technical nature of the questions, which require additional discussions amongst technical experts before preliminary views can be put forward, and resources that some parties will be providing in support of the public testing of the NPAS scheduled for May 6, 2026.

The CTA requested the new deadlines be set as May 14, 2026 (a one-week extension for the initial RFI response) and May 28, 2026 (a two-week extension for the reply) and that the amended deadlines apply to all entities to whom RFIs were addressed.

At this time, Commission staff considers it appropriate to grant an additional week to each deadline and to apply it equally to all recipients of the RFI. Accordingly, the deadlines for the above-noted RFI have been modified as follows for all recipients:

The deadline to submit a response to the RFI: 14 May 2026.

The deadline to submit a reply to RFI responses: 21 May 2026.

A copy of this letter and all related correspondence will be added to this application’s public record.
