This survey is to be completed by selected telecommunications and/or broadcasting entities.

In order to reduce the burden on the industry, survey data may be filed for each legal entity or consolidated across entities. Consolidated reporting must be pre-approved by CRTC staff. To arrange for consolidated reporting please contact us using the online form. This request will remain in effect until otherwise notified.

Authority

This survey is conducted under the authority of the Statistics Act, Revised Statutes of Canada 1985, Chapter S19, the Broadcasting Act, and the Telecommunications Act.

The schedule for the Quarterly Surveys for the fiscal year is provided in the table below.

Significant changes

Changes have been made to the Quarterly Survey forms to simplify reporting requirements or to capture new information due to changes in the industry. Below is a list of significant changes:

Form 202Q Long-distance minutes have been removed.
Form 201Q Local and long distance have been combined into a single category. “Long distance” is no longer reported separately.
Forms 201Q and 202Q High-speed internet subscriptions and revenues must be completed by technology (e.g fibre, cable, DSL)
Forms 201Q and 202Q These forms have been modified to capture retail mobile phone subscribers and revenues associated with MVNO agreements.
Form 202Q Three speed buckets have been added (100-149.9GB, 150-199.9GB, 200GB+).

Form 201Q “Contribution” has been removed from the Local and Access part of the form.
Form 202Q The supplemental details section, mobile phone subscribers by size of data plans, has been added.
Form 202Q The section, supplemental details for Internet subscribers, has been expanded with higher download speeds.
Form 268 Line 23 has been added to capture more details on cancelled requests.

Forms 201Q and 202Q These forms have been modified to capture Internet and mobile phone flanker information.

Form Changes
Forms 201Q and 202Q These forms have been modified to capture residential and business mobile wireless information for three specific categories: mobile phones, mobile broadband and other plans for connected devices. In addition, form 201Q will collect wireline and wireless capital expenditures and in form 202Q, an additional Internet speed basket has been added.

Forms 201Q and 202Q Audit rules have been introduced in forms 201Q and 202Q to ensure that both corresponding revenues and demand quantities are reported for all applicable sectors. These audit rules will generate automatic messages but will not impact form submissions.
