Internet, cellphone, home phone, and television service outages

Canadians experience service outages due to extreme weather events, technical failures, and other factors. These outages, even if they are short, are highly disruptive and can seriously impact Canadians’ lives.

We are taking action to:

  • help improve the resiliency of telecommunications networks and reliability of telecommunications services
  • improve how service providers report outages to the CRTC, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), and other authorities
  • help protect Canadians when their telecommunications or television services are unavailable due to a network outage or disruption
