Non-Facilities-Based Providers of telecom services
Non-Facilities Based Providers offer basic telecommunications services to the public including services provided by exempt transmission apparatus.
Registration Lists
- Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Providers provide DSL service but do not provide the telephone line over which that service is delivered
- Resellers of Telecommunications Services are sell or lease a telecommunications service, with or without adding value, provided by a Canadian Carrier to the Reseller on a wholesale basis
- Resellers of High Speed Retail Internet Service sell or lease internet services, with or without adding value, provided by a Canadian Carrier to the Reseller on a wholesale basis.
- Competitive Pay Telephone Service Providers (CPTSP) install and maintain pay telephones in commercial and/or in public space(s).
Obligations
Non-Facilities-Based Providers:
- must register with the CRTC as a telecommunications service provider
- may have to file data with the CRTC using the paper Data Collection Forms
- must obtain a Basic International Telecommunications Services (BITS) license only if they carry telecommunications traffic between Canada and another country
- are not subject to ownership and control regulations
