Decision

Ottawa, 10 June 1986
Decision CRTC 86-521
Lac La Ronge Broadcasting Association Inc.
La Ronge, Saskatchewan - 853300200
Following a Public Hearing in Saskatoon on 22 April 1986, the Commission approves the application for a broadcasting licence for a low power English-language FM radio station at La Ronge on the frequency 92.9 MHz, channel 225, with an effective radiated power of 9 watts to rebroadcast the programs of CIRK-FM Edmonton, received via satellite from the CANCOM network.
The Commission will issue a licence expiring 30 September 1990, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
The licensee is currently authorized to distribute CIRK-FM on its cable television system at La Ronge. It indicated that current application was submitted in response to strong subscriber demand for the over-the-air distribution of this signal and that it will submit a further application to delete CIRK-FM from the authorized distribution of its cable television undertaking.
The Commission notes that no local radio service is available in La Ronge and is satisfied that the over-the-air rebroadcast of the signal of CIRK-FM Edmonton represents the best way to provide a radio service to this area.
Fernand Bélisle
Secretary General
