Decision

Ottawa, 24 April 1987
Decision CRTC 87-309
Radio Lachute Mirabel Inc. Lachute, Quebec - 862884400
Radio Cornwall-Hawkesbury Inc. Hawkesbury, Ontario - 871016200
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1987-33 dated 5 February 1987, the Commission approves the applications to amend the broadcasting licences of CJLA-FM Lachute, CHPR and CHPR-1-FM Hawkesbury, by adding a condition of licence which stipulates that the stations operate as affiliates of the Radiomutuel network.
The Commission has taken note of the licensees' commitments, as contained in the Promise of Performance for each station, to broadcast 9 hours 30 minutes of news each week, with provincial, national and international newscasts to be provided by the Radiomutuel network.
With respect to CJLA-FM Lachute, the Commission notes that 46% of the newscasts will be devoted to local and regional news. The Commission will continue to expect CHPR and CHPR-1-FM Hawkesbury to serve the local and regional francophone population in this area of Eastern Ontario. In this regard, it notes that these stations have made a commitment to broadcast six newscasts each day that will be devoted to local and regional news and oriented towards the francophone population.
