Decision

Ottawa, 16 January 1990
Decision CRTC 90-28
Jans Bay Broadcasting Co.
Jans Bay, Saskatchewan - 890944200
Following a Public Hearing in Winnipeg beginning on 5 December 1989, the Commission approves the application for a licence for a Cree and English-language AM radio broadcasting transmitting undertaking at Jans Bay on the frequency 1330 kHz, with a transmitter power of 50 watts. This undertaking will rebroadcast the programs of CKRW Whitehorse and CFMI-FM Vancouver, received via satellite, and broadcast 60 hours per week of locally-originated programming in English (75%) and Cree (25%) languages. The Commission will issue a licence expiring 31 August 1994, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
It is a condition of licence that construction of this undertaking be completed and that it be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision or, where the applicant applies to the Commission within this period and satisfies the Commission that it cannot complete implementation before the expiry of this period and that an extension is in the public interest, within such further period of time as is approved in writing by the Commission.
