Decision

Ottawa, 13 November 1992
Decision CRTC 92-783
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Orillia, Huntsville and Parry Sound, Ontario - 920319100 - 920317500 - 920318300
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1992-57 dated 27 August 1992, the Commission approves the applications to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CBL Toronto (the originating station), by increasing the effective radiated power of its transmitter CBCO-FM Orillia from 1,080 watts to 3,100 watts, and by relocating the CBCO-FM transmitter.
The Commission approves the application to further amend the broadcasting licence for CBL, by authorizing the licensee to add transmitters at Huntsville and Parry Sound, operating on the frequency 94.3 MHz (channel 232) and 89.9 MHz (channel 210) respectively, with an effective radiated power of 70,000 watts at Huntsville and 50 watts at Parry Sound.
Although the Commission, in Decision CRTC 88-487, authorized the CBC to change the frequency of CBCO-FM Orillia from 105.9 MHz to 91.5 MHz and to make other related technical changes, this authority was not implemented.
The Commission notes that approval of the present applications, including the addition of transmitters at Huntsville and Parry Sound, will improve signal quality throughout the area, eliminate significant coverage overlaps, and enable the CBC to switch to use of the frequency 91.5 MHz at Orillia. This, in turn, will free the frequency 105.9 MHz for other potential use in the area.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
