Licence renewal
1. Following Public Notice CRTC 1998-39 dated 22 April 1998, the Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the radiocommunication distribution undertaking serving Wemindji, from 1 September 1998 to 31 August 2005, subject to the conditions in effect under the current licence, as well as to those conditions specified in the licence to be issued.
2. The Commission notes that this undertaking distributes, in non-encrypted mode, the following programming services:
WXYZ-TV (ABC) Detroit, Michigan
WDIV-TV (NBC) Detroit, Michigan
WJBK-TV Detroit, Michigan
WTVS-TV (PBS) Detroit, Michigan
CFTM-TV (TVA) Montréal
CBC Newsworld
CHAN-TV (CTV) Vancouver
CITV-TV (IND) Edmonton
The Sports Network (TSN)
3. The licensee is authorized to distribute these services on channels 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, 35 and 38, each with a transmitter power of 1 watt, as certified by the Department of Industry.
4. In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act (the Act), this renewal is subject to the issuance of a Broadcasting Certificate by the Department of Industry.
5. The Commission draws the licensee's attention to subsection 22(4) of the Act which provides that any broadcasting licence issued, amended or renewed in contravention of section 22 of the Act is of no force or effect.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
