On 24 November 2000, the Commission approved a Category 2 specialty television service to be known as Fox News Canada. The terms and conditions generally applicable to Category 2 services are set out in the public notice accompanying this and other decisions released today. |

Conditions of licence |
|
|
The licence, when issued, will expire 31 August 2007 and will be subject to the following conditions as well as to those set out in both Public Notice CRTC 2000-171 andin the licence to be issued. |

Nature of service |
|
|
a) The licensee shall provide a national English-language Category 2 specialty television service blending a Canadian domestic perspective with an American-style news service. The service will provide regional news reports and public affairs programming from across Canada, enhanced by a general news service provided by Fox News. It will offer 17 hours of live programming per day, including one-hour programs in the evenings taking an in-depth look at the day’s events, and featuring newsmaker interviews. The service will also provide documentaries from around the world that touch on the issues of interest to Canadians. |

b) The programming must be drawn exclusively from the following categories, as set out in Schedule I to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990: |

c) The licensee shall not broadcast live coverage of sports events. |

Definitions |
|
|
Broadcast day shall have the same meaning as that set out in section 2 of the Television Broadcasting Regulations, 1987. |
