Re: Implementation of Competition in the local exchange and local payphone markets in the territories of Télébec and TELUS (Québec), Public Notice CRTC 2001-69, 14 June 2001

Dear Sir or Madam:

  1. In a letter dated 13 September 2002, Télébec requested, among other things, that all of the deadlines included in the above-mentioned procedure be moved back by approximately three weeks. TELUS Communications (Québec) Inc. supported Télébec's request in a letter dated 13 September 2002.
  2. Both parties provided explanations for the extensions requested. They pointed out that the analyses on the impact of recent decisions, as well any related follow-up, placed a tremendous burden on the resources they have available to respond to Commission interrogatories. These very resources are being called upon in the present procedure. Moreover, this deferral appears to be necessary to conduct the required supplementary studies and analyses.
  3. In light of the amount of information required and the work involved in gathering it, the carriers believe they will be unable to file their responses by 17 September 2002. Consequently, it is considered reasonable that the schedule for the procedure of Public Notice CRTC 2001-69 be revised as follows:

Paragraph 28: Responses to interrogatories must be filed with the Commission and served on all parties by 8 October 2002.

Paragraph 29: All parties may file comments with the Commission, serving a copy on all other parties, by 8 November 2002.

Paragraph 30: All parties may file comments in response with the Commission, serving copies on all other parties, by 9 December 2002.

  4. All material is to be filed, and served, not merely sent, by the dates specified above.

Yours sincerely,

Shirley Soehn,
Executive Director
