Telecom Order CRTC 2003-44

Ottawa, 22 January 2003

MTS Communications Inc.

Reference: Tariff Notice 489

Revised rates for province-wide E9-1-1 service

1.

The Commission received an application by MTS Communications Inc. (MTS), dated 20 November 2002, to revise General Tariff item 485, Province-Wide E9-1-1 Service, in order to reflect the recalculation of the existing monthly rates for 2003.

2.

The company recalculated its rates pursuant to the directives set out in 9-1-1 service - Rates for wireless service providers, Centrex customers and multi-line customers/manual access to the automatic location identification database, Telecom Decision CRTC 99-17, 29 October 1999, and Rates modified for province-wide 9-1-1 service, Order CRTC 2000-630, 6 July 2000.

3.

The Commission notes that the recalculation, based on September 2002 data, results in a proposed reduction from the current monthly rate of $0.19 to $0.18 for all exchange services equipped for outward calling to the public switched telephone network and from $0.095 to $0.09 per working telephone number of the wireless service providers.

4.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

5.

The Commission approves MTS' application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
