FM radio station in Rimouski - Acquisition of assets

1.

The Commission approves the application by Radio CJFP (1986) ltée, on behalf of Radio Rimouski inc. (Radio Rimouski), to acquire from Radio CJFP (1986) ltée the assets of the French-language commercial FM radio programming undertaking in Rimouski, Quebec, approved in French-language FM radio station in Rimouski, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2006-129, 5 April 2006 (Decision 2006-129). Radio Rimouski also requested a broadcasting licence to operate this undertaking under the same terms and conditions as those set out in Decision 2006-129.

2.

This application follows a reorganization under which the employees of the new station who wish to become more involved in Radio Rimouski may acquire a certain percentage of the undertaking's shares. The Commission notes that this request will have no impact on the ultimate control of the broadcasting undertaking, which will continue to be exercised by Mr. Guy Simard.

3.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

4.

The Commission notes that the undertaking is not yet in operation. Once the requirements for the issuance of a licence set out in Decision 2006-129 have been met, the Commission will issue a broadcasting licence to Radio Rimouski inc. The licence will expire 31 August 2012 and will be subject to the same terms and conditions as those set out in Decision 2006-129.

5.

In accordance with Implementation of an employment equity policy, Public Notice CRTC 1992-59, 1 September 1992, the Commission encourages the applicant to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
