Dear Mr. Hennessey:

Re: Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership Tariff Notice 218

On 20 November 2007 , the Commission received an application from Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership (the Company), under cover of Tariff Notice 218 (TN 218).   The Company proposed to modify its tariff pages such that customers signed onto a long term Centrex Business Service, Business Communications Service or Provincial Centrex Service contracts, styled Minimum Service Periods (M.S.P.s) would be offered the option to extend their existing contracts by one year increments to a maximum equal the length of the original M.S.P. at existing terms and rates.

Staff notes that the above referenced application raises competitive and pricing equity issues.   Accordingly, the Commission will be unable to render a decision within 10 days of filing of the application.   However, the Commission intends to dispose of the application within 45 business days of receipt of TN 218.

Sincerely,
