	CHCA-TV-1 Calgary – Technical change
1.	The Commission approves the application by Canwest Television GP Inc. (the general partner) and Canwest Media Inc. (the limited partner), carrying on business as Canwest Television Limited Partnership to amend the broadcasting licence of the English-language television programming undertaking CHCA-TV Red Deer. The licensee seeks to amend the technical parameters of its rebroadcaster CHCA-TV-1 Calgary, authorized in CHCA-TV Red Deer – New transmitters in Calgary and Edmonton, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2007-168, 8 June 2007, by modifying the antenna radiation pattern from directional to non-directional, by decreasing the average effective radiated power from 26,000 to 17,000 watts, by increasing the antenna's effective height above average terrain from 258.5 to 378 metres and by relocating the transmitter's antenna to another location in close proximity recently built by Harvard Broadcasting Inc. There were no interventions to this application. The implementation is subject to the notification by the Department of Industry (the Department) discussed in paragraph 3 below.
2.	The Commission notes that these changes will result in a slight increase of the authorized contours of CHCA-TV-1.
3.	The Commission reminds the licensee that pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued. Therefore, in the absence of the notification by the Department, the licensee will not be able to implement the new technical parameters approved in this decision.
