The Comedy Network – Licence amendment – Correction
- In The Comedy Network – Licence amendment, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2010-204, 8 April 2010, the Commission approved an application by CTV Television Inc. to amend the broadcasting licence for the specialty television programming undertaking known as The Comedy Network in order to increase its flexibility in fulfilling its described video programming commitments. The new condition of licence relating to described video programming, as set out in that decision, did not reflect this service's previous obligations relating to the broadcast of such programming. The corrected condition of licence shall read as follows (changes in bold):
The licensee shall broadcast a minimum of three hours of described programming per broadcast week.
The licensee may fulfill its commitments for described video with programming from the following categories: 2(b) Long-form documentary, 7(a) Ongoing dramatic series, 7(b) Ongoing comedy series (sitcoms), 7(c) Specials, mini-series or made-for-TV feature films, 7(d) Theatrical feature films aired on TV, 7(e) Animated television programs and films, 7(f) Programs of comedy sketches, improvisations, unscripted works, stand-up comedy, 7(g) Other drama, 9 Variety and 11 General entertainment and human interest, as well as programming targeted to children.
In fulfilling this condition, a minimum of 50% of the required hours must be original to the service.
This decision is to be appended to the licence. It is available in alternative format upon request and may also be examined in PDF format or in HTML at the following Internet site: http://www.crtc.gc.ca.
