Route reference: 2010-271

Ottawa, 29 July 2010

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Winnipeg and Dauphin, Manitoba

Application 2009-1369-1, received 7 October 2009

CBWT Winnipeg and CBWST Dauphin - Licence amendment

1.      The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to amend the broadcasting licence for the television programming undertaking CBWT Winnipeg by adding the radiocommunication distribution undertaking (RDU) CBWST Dauphin as a rebroadcasting transmitter for CBWT. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

2.      The licensee stated that CBWST can no longer receive feed from its former television affiliate, CKX-TV Brandon, Manitoba, since CKX-TV ceased operations on 2 October 2009.

3.      The CBC stated that, as a result of the approval granted in this decision, it would relinquish its current RDU licence for CBWST. However, given that this RDU licence expires 31 August 2010, the Commission will simply let the licence lapse.

4.      The Commission notes that approval of this application has no technical implications because no transmitters will be moved, added or taken away, and because no changes in the official contours of either CBWT or CBWST are planned.
