Dear Ms. Mallette:

Re: Provincial Tel’s request to consolidate two local interconnection regions in Manitoba

Commission staff considers that additional information is necessary for the Commission to make a determination regarding the above-noted application.

As such, Provincial Tel is to submit responses to the enclosed interrogatories (see Appendix) with the Commission no later than 30 July 2010.

Where a document is to be filed or served by a specific date, the document must be actually received, and not merely sent, by that date.

Yours sincerely,

Interrogatories for Provincial Tel

Note: for the purposes of the interrogatories below, a voice service customer is an end-user that subscribes to a voice plan over and above a dial-up internet plan.  A data service customer is an end-user that subscribes to a dial-up internet plan (or high-speed plan if applicable).  If an end-user subscribes to Provincial Tel’s dial-up internet services only (or subscribes to the dial-up Internet service of another vendor reselling Provincial Tel’s service to end-users), that end-user is not to be included as a voice customer.

1. How many voice service customers does Provincial Tel currently have, by exchange, in the eight exchanges that make up the Melita LIR?

2. How many data service customers does Provincial Tel currently have, by exchange, in the eight exchanges that make up the Melita LIR?

3. If the Melita and Brandon LIRs are combined, how many voice service customers does Provincial Tel forecast it will have in the eight Melita exchanges within 2 years?

4. If the Melita and Brandon LIRs are combined, how many data service customers does Provincial Tel forecast it will have in the eight Melita exchanges within 2 years?
