Renfrew, Ontario

Application 2010-1484-4, received 17 September 2010

CHMY-FM Renfrew – Technical change

1.      The Commission approves the application by My Broadcasting Corporation to change the authorized contours of the English-language commercial radio programming undertaking CHMY-FM Renfrew by increasing the effective radiated power from 1,660 to 7,100 watts (non-directional antenna with an effective height of antenna above average terrain of 128.5 metres). The Commission received several interventions in support of this application.

2.      The licensee stated that it wished to increase the quality of the station’s signal to the outlying communities of Renfrew and to make appropriate use of the FM broadcasting spectrum.

3.      The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.

4.      The Commission reminds the licensee that pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
