Application 2011-0260-8, received 3 February 2011

CHMT-FM Timmins – Technical change

1.      The Commission approves the application by Haliburton Broadcasting Group Inc. (Haliburton) to change the technical parameters of the English-language commercial radio programming undertaking CHMT-FM Timmins by increasing the effective radiated power from 3,600 to 16,400 watts, by increasing the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 75.8 to 95 meters and by changing its class from A to B1. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

2.      Haliburton stated that the technical changes requested in this application will allow it to better serve the community of Timmins.

3.      The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.

4.      The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this technical change will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
