Application 2011-0503-1, received 17 March 2011

CFMI-FM New Westminster – Technical change

1.      The Commission approves the application by Corus Premium Television Ltd. (Corus) to change the technical parameters of the English-language commercial radio programming undertaking CFMI-FM New Westminster by increasing the average effective radiated power (ERP) from 37,000 to 53,000 watts (maximum ERP from 75,000 to 100,000 watts), by decreasing the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 686 to 386.4 meters and by relocating its transmitter. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

2.      Corus stated that the relocation of its transmitter was necessary because of ongoing technical problems as well as other difficulties with the current transmitter site.

3.      The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry (the Department) notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued. Therefore, in the absence of the notification by the Department, the applicant will not be able to implement the technical change approved in this decision.
