Route reference: Part 1 application posted on 15 February 2013

Ottawa, 14 August 2013

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Hearst, Ontario

Application 2013-0292-6

CBCS-FM Sudbury and its transmitter CBCC-FM Hearst –Technical change

1. The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the technical parameters of CBCC-FM Hearst, a transmitter for the English-language radio programming undertaking CBCS-FM Sudbury. The Commission did not receive any interventions concerning this application.

2. The CBC proposed to change the transmitter class from B to B1 and to decrease the average effective radiated power from 10,500 to 8,340 watts (non-directional antenna with an effective height of antenna above average terrain of 119 meters). All other parameters will remain unchanged.

3. The licensee indicated that the change would allow it to reduce the cost of operating CBCC-FM, while maintaining adequate coverage for Radio One in the Hearst area.

4. The Commission reminds the licensee that pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
