Why is it costing me more to go pick & pay than to stay with my current TV bundle?

The goal of these CRTC rules is to give Canadians choices. If you watch TV across a wide variety of channels, it may be better to stick with your current bundle.

TV service providers negotiate the price of a channel with the broadcaster, often depending on - among other things - the number of subscribers reached, as well as the cost to produce or purchase the rights to the programming. An example is sports channels that broadcast professional sports league games. Pick & Pay is especially attractive to people who are looking for a basic package plus a few individual channels.
